Obamas to visit Palm Springs after inauguration
The Obamas will fly to Palm Springs, Calif., on Friday on their final flight aboard presidential aircraft, the White House confirmed Tuesday.
Press secretary Josh Earnest said the first family will leave the nation’s capital for the West Coast after the inaugural ceremonies Friday afternoon.
“The president vowed to take his family to a destination that is warmer than Washington, and Palm Springs fits the bill,” Earnest said.

Obama has made frequent visits to the area and the first couple is rumored to be eyeing the area as their permanent home after living in Washington while their daughter, Sasha, finishes high school.
After the inaugural ceremonies, the Obamas plan to fly on the presidential helicopter to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. They will hold a thank you event for staff before departing for Palm Springs.
While the Obamas will fly to Palm Springs on the presidential plane, under the call sign Executive One, they will have to make their own arrangements to travel back to Washington.
Their destination was first reported by TMZ.
