Rep. Al Green (D-Texas.) said the March for Truth rallies across the U.S. on Saturday reflected the American public’s view on President Trump.
“No amount of rain, no amount of intimidation, no amount of ugliness will prevent us from standing up for truth,” Green said at a rally in Houston, adding the events “show the will of the people.”
If people keep turning out for protests, “then Congress will change,” he said.

Green, who was the first member of Congress to publicly call for Trump’s impeachment, continued those calls at the rally Saturday, saying the only way it will happen is if grassroots movements keep pushing for it.
His comments came as protesters in cities across the country called for an independent commission to probe alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russian meddling in the U.S. election.
The Democratic congressman first officially called for Trump’s impeachment on the House floor in March, citing the president’s alleged connections to Russian election influence.
“I have said on previous occasions, and do now say again, the president should be impeached. I also say that this can happen with a Republican-controlled House and Senate if the public weighs in by demanding that the Republican president be charged by way of impeachment,” he said.
