Reporter who clashed with Sanders during press briefing: It was a ‘long time coming’

Brian Karem, the Playboy contributor who clashed with Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders during Tuesday’s White House press briefing, told MSNBC that the spat was a “long time coming.”

Karem admitted on “Hardball with Chris Matthews” that he lost his temper but said that it had been building for months.

“Maybe I lost my temper at that moment,” he told Matthews. “But it was a long time coming. It was six months.”

{mosads}He accused the White House press team of being unable to admit when they make even the most basic of mistakes.

“I have yet to hear anyone from this administration even admit a mistake,” Karem said. “It is a little hard to take.”

During a Tuesday press briefing, Karem accused Sanders of making “inflammatory” statements about the press when she attacked CNN over their retraction of a story about Anthony Scaramucci, an aide to President Trump.

“We are here to ask you questions, you are here to provide answers,” Karem told Sanders on Tuesday.

“And what you just did is inflammatory to people all over the country who look at it and say, ‘See, once again, the president is right and everybody else is just fake media.’ Everybody in this room is only trying to do their job.”

CNN reported Monday that three staffers had resigned over the retracted story.
