Norquist: ObamaCare was taxes with a ‘stethoscope’ stapled on top
Grover Norquist, the founder of Americans for Tax Reform who is known for his opposition to tax increases, on Wednesday said ObamaCare is a series of taxes with a “stethoscope stapled to the top of it.”
“ObamaCare was a collection of about 20 different taxes with stethoscope stapled to the top of it,” Norquist told “Fox & Friends.”
{mosads}Norquist argued that while the tax increases under ObamaCare would phase out over time, they show how the healthcare legislation hurts the middle class.
“One of the things that Obama was elected promising is that he would never, and he said this again and again, he would never raise taxes on anyone, anyone who earned less than $250,000 a year of any kind of tax,” Norquist said.
Norquist’s comments come one day after the Senate postponed its vote on legislation to repeal and replace ObamaCare until after the Fourth of July recess amidst opposition from Republican lawmakers.
