Piers Morgan slams J.K. Rowling over Trump tweets

Former CNN host Piers Morgan slammed author J.K. Rowling this weekend for tweets she posted about President Trump.

“JK Rowling’s 8 abusive tweets remain up, 48hrs after they were proven to be based on a lie,” Morgan wrote on Sunday.

“She’s not annoying me at all. The longer Ms Rowling refuses to delete those tweets the more she damages herself,” Morgan added, responding to another Twitter user.

{mosads}His tweets reference a tweetstorm from Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series and a frequent critic of President Trump, that included a now-deleted clip of President Trump appearing to ignore a boy in a wheelchair.

Other video has emerged showing Trump speaking to the child, and his mother reportedly posted to Facebook to confirm that the president did not ignore her son. But despite the video being debunked, Rowling’s tweets were still online as of Sunday afternoon.

“Trump imitated a disabled reporter. Now he pretends not to see a child in a wheelchair, as though frightened he might catch his condition,” Rowling wrote on Friday.

“This monster of narcissism values only himself and his pale reflections. The disabled, minorities, transgender people, the poor, women. … (unless related to him by ties of blood, and therefore his creations) are treated with contempt, because they do not resemble Trump.”

The string of tweets led to a post on the Twitter aggregator, Twitchy, that showed a full clip of Trump kneeling down to the little boy. Rowling’s tweets also prompted a now-deleted retweet from Chelsea Clinton.

Rowling said that her mother was in a wheelchair and that anyone with “a shred of decency” would get over feeling uncomfortable around her due to the disability.

“So, yes, that clip of Trump looking deliberately over a disabled child’s head, ignoring his outstretched hand, has touched me on the raw. /2,” Rowling added.

“That man occupies the most powerful office in the free world and his daily outrages against civilised norms are having a corrosive effect /3.”

“How stunning, and how horrible, that Trump cannot bring himself to shake the hand of a small boy who only wanted to touch the President. /4x” she concluded.
