Trump retweets election map after W.Va. rally

President Trump retweeted a 2016 election map early Friday morning showing the United States color-coded by precinct, which shows a mostly deep-red country with pockets of blue scattered across the landscape.

The tweet came the morning after Trump held a campaign-style rally in West Virginia, telling the crowd “there were no Russians” in his 2016 team and dismissing as a “fake story” ongoing probes into Moscow’s meddling in last year’s election.

The map, which was apparently created by a fan, was tweeted at Trump by a follower in response to Trump’s first tweet of the day, which was about consumer confidence.

“Consumer confidence is at a 16 year high….and for good reason,” Trump’s original tweet wrote. “Much more regulation ‘busting’ to come. Working hard on tax cuts & reform!”

The anonymous follower who tweeted the map, @Team_Trump45, is followed by several top Trump allies on Twitter, including Fox News host Sean Hannity, former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci and former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Nine months after defeating Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Trump still enjoys talking about his victory, telling the Boy Scouts’ National Scout Jamboree in late July about several of the states he won against pundits’ predictions.

In May, it was reported that Trump was planning on hanging a picture of his Electoral College victory in the White House after a reporter spotted the framed map being hauled through the White House by a staffer.

And in April, a Washington Post reporter said that Trump asked him to run the map on the front page of the newspaper.
