Trump tweets support for bipartisan immigration reform
As his administration announces the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, President Trump on Tuesday called on both parties “in Congress to address immigration reform.”
I look forward to working w/ D’s + R’s in Congress to address immigration reform in a way that puts hardworking citizens of our country 1st.

Implemented by executive order under President Obama in 2012, DACA seeks to protect those brought to the U.S. illegally as children.
{mosads}Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in an announcement rescinding the program that DACA would not be renewed after March, giving Congress some six months to pass new immigration legislation if it desires.
The program, which critics have called an overstep of the executive branch’s authority, currently allows nearly 800,000 illegal immigrants to work and attend schools without being deported.
As a presidential candidate, Trump repeatedly pledged to do away with DACA.
