Clinton to Trump on North Korea: ‘Get over the Twitter stuff’

Hillary Clinton said Thursday night that President Trump needs to shift his focus from using Twitter to instead negotiating with North Korea over its continued nuclear and missile tests.

“Get over the Twitter stuff and get on to the diplomatic negotiations,” Clinton said during an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow promoting the former Democratic presidential candidate’s new book.

Clinton’s comments came hours after North Korea launched another ballistic missile from Pyongyang that flew over Japan. It was the second missile to fly over northern Japan in recent weeks and followed fresh sanctions on North Korea from the United Nations.

{mosads}”This missile test is sending a message from Kim Jong Un that he is not deterred. And that’s what I mean about all the tough talk that we hear from our president really actually playing right into Kim Jong Un’s hands,” Clinton argued.

“And that’s what I mean when I say he’s been played,” she said.

Trump has taken an aggressive stance against North Korean as the country continues to test missiles and has indicated that military action against the isolated nation is not out of the question.

Clinton, who served as secretary of State under former President Barack Obama, suggested the Trump administration bring in experienced diplomats from outside the government if it does not have the capacity to negotiate with North Korea.

Clinton said that “right now we need smart, diplomatic intervention” on the issue.
