Melania threatens lawsuit over billboard with her image: report
Billboards featuring first lady Melania Trump were removed from the Croatian capital on Tuesday after her lawyer threatened a lawsuit.
The American Institute in the country’s capital of Zagreb had put up five billboards around the city with a picture of the first lady speaking at the 2016 Republican National Convention and the caption, “Just imagine how far you can go with a little bit of English.”
Trump, who is a native of neighboring Slovenia, is fluent in English, French, Serbian and German.
The Associated Press reported Tuesday that the images, which were not authorized to be used by the first lady, had been removed.{mosads}
“I’m satisfied with the fact that the school admitted that they violated the law and that they are ready to remove the billboards and [Facebook] ads,” lawyer Natasa Pirc-Musar told the AP. “We are still analyzing possible further legal steps.”
A spokesperson from the school told the AP that the advertisements were meant to portray Melania Trump in a positive light, and that they will be replacing the billboards with new advertisements despite the ones with the first lady being “very successful.”
