Bannon: The ‘elites’ think I’m a ‘dangerous guy’
Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon said late Monday that “elites” see him as “a dangerous guy.”
“The elites hold me in contempt,” Bannon told Fox News’s “Hannity.”
“They think I’m a bad guy. They think I’m a dangerous guy. I wear their contempt as a badge of honor. They have helped destroy this country. They have done nothing but allow economic hate crimes against working men and women in the heartland of this country.”
{mosads}Bannon made the remarks from Alabama, where he appeared at a campaign rally for former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, who on Tuesday is up against Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.) in the state’s Republican Senate primary runoff.
Bannon’s support for Moore puts him at odds with his former boss, President Trump, who endorsed Strange. The president’s support for Strange has allied him with Republican Senate leadership but has put him up against his support base.
Trump campaigned last Friday night for Strange in Huntsville and early Tuesday called on Alabama voters to head to the polls for “Big Luther.”
Backers of Moore, including Bannon, have sought to portray Strange as a member of the Republican establishment who must be ousted from Washington, D.C.
The winner of the Tuesday runoff will head to the general election, when Republicans will defend the seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
