Right-wing PAC tells Dems to return Weinstein campaign donations
A right-wing watchdog group is calling for top Democrats who have taken campaign donations from Harvey Weinstein, a Hollywood producer facing several sexual harassment allegations, to return or donate those donations.
“If the Democratic Party purports itself to be the champion of women, they ought to lead by example in returning or donating the donations received from Harvey Weinstein,” the America Rising PAC said in a statement.

America Rising, a group that claims to be “an organization on the right for the sole purpose of exposing the truth about Democrats,” called on the leading Democrats by name to return donations from Weinstein totaling $303,000.
An investigation by The New York Times uncovered three decades worth of allegations of sexual harassment against Weinstein, the producer of a number of Hollywood blockbusters.
The list of women who have accused Weinstein of unwanted advances includes actresses and assistants.
The list of Democrats donations from Weinstein includes $71,600 to former President Obama, $38,990.45 to 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, $5,000 to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and $5,400 to Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.).
The largest sum of money — $99,032.32 — was given to the Democratic National Committee, as well as $21,200 donated to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Democrats’ campaign organization.
Weinstein is currently in therapy for his behavior and told the Times that he is “trying to do better” after the allegations came to light.
