Trump Jr. prominent in conservative speaking circuit

Donald Trump Jr. will raise hundreds of thousands of dollars this year for appearances at political fundraisers, public universities and private events.

The president’s oldest son has become a key grab for conservative groups, according to Bloomberg.

At one of his upcoming appearances, at the University of North Texas, Trump Jr. will be paid $100,000 from private donors, more than the group putting on the event has ever paid a speaker.

The event is expected to raise $300,000 for scholarships to the university, with event sponsorships selling for as much as $100,000.

Nearly 90 professors from the university have called for the school to cancel the event, calling the association with Trump “distressingly poor judgment,” according to Bloomberg.

But the controversy and protests ignited by booking Trump is part of what makes him so in-demand.

“He has probably been a little more controversial than I would have thought,” one of the event organizers told Bloomberg. “But everyone is talking about it, for that reason, I think it is an excellent choice.”

Trump’s speaking appearances have made waves and sparked protests. He slammed liberal universities and professors in a speech earlier this month at Faulkner University in Alabama.
