Former Pence spokesman: White House not worried about Papadopoulos

A former spokesman to Vice President Pence suggested Thursday that the White House is not concerned with the new revelations that a former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser suggested President Trump meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I’m not aware of anybody,” Mark Lotter responded when MSNBC host Nicole Wallace asked if anyone in the White House was concerned with any information about former Trump foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos.

Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to federal authorities in July regarding his Russian contacts, special counsel Robert Mueller’s team announced this week.

{mosads}Papadopoulos reportedly discussed his connections to Russia at a meeting of Trump’s foreign policy team, suggesting that he could organize a meeting between Trump and Putin.

“Right now all we have are indictments that have nothing to do with the president of the United States and the White House,” Lotter said on MSNBC.

Lotter referred to Papadopoulos as a “30-year-old kid” who was “trying to build a portfolio for himself and kept getting shot down.”

“I’m sure that everyone is taking the appropriate, necessary steps that they have to legally,” Lotter said. “That is not something we discuss in the White House.”
