Poll: Majority of Americans say Trump has achieved little

As the anniversary of his election win approaches, President Trump has hit a record low approval rating, and a majority of Americans say he has achieved little in office.

According to a new poll from ABC News and The Washington Post, 65 percent of Americans say that Trump’s accomplishments thus far range between “little or nothing” to “not much.” That number is up from a similar poll after Trump’s first 100 days in office, when just 56 percent said Trump wasn’t doing enough.

His approval rating also dipped to 37 percent, a historic low not seen in polls dating as far back as President Harry Truman. Trump has a 59 percent disapproval rating, a 22-point difference from his approval rating. {mosads}

The poll also asked participants about Trump’s temperament as president, with 66 percent of Americans saying Trump “lacks the personality and temperament it takes to serve effectively as president.” Sixty-five percent of respondents also said Trump is not honest and trustworthy.

Undercutting Trump’s pledges to be the “voice” of America’s “forgotten men and women,” 62 percent now say that the president “doesn’t understand their problems,” and only 42 percent say that he has brought the change to Washington that he promised during the 2016 campaign.

Trump has faced several setbacks in implementing his agenda, with the failure of Republican-led efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act in Congress and only incremental progress on his trademark pledge to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Almost one year out from winning the 2016 election, Trump’s winning Republican coalition is voicing frustration with his presidency, now with only 63 percent approval among conservatives after winning 81 percent of the group a year ago, according to the poll.

The ABC News/Washington Post poll surveyed 1,005 Americans via telephone from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1, and has a margin of error of 3.5 points.
