Clinton: Uranium One allegations ‘a political stunt’
Hillary Clinton on Friday called allegations that she interfered in the sale of a Uranium company during her time as secretary of State a “political stunt by the Trump administration.”
The “crazy allegations” are “a political stunt by the Trump administration and its allies to distract from the very serious information coming out about the Trump campaign’s connections with Russia,” Clinton said in an interview with WABC Radio host Rita Cosby.
President Trump and several Republican members of Congress have called for a special counsel to investigate the 2010 sale of Uranium One, a Canadian mining company, to the Russian nuclear agency Rosatom.
Trump has also urged the FBI and Justice Department to look into whether Clinton influenced the sale of the company.

Nine agencies, including the State Department, approved the deal at the time.
Critics have charged that Clinton approved the sale in exchange for earlier donations to the Clinton Foundation by company executives.
“I had nothing to do with the decision,” Clinton said in the interview. “Now that is a fact.”
Clinton told Mother Jones earlier in the week that it would be a mistake for Trump to urge the Justice Department to investigate the allegations, but that she is “not concerned, because I know there is no basis to it.”
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said this week that he would only consider a special counsel to look into the Uranium One sale if it met the criteria to merit such an investigation.
