Scott Walker: Ryan is ‘not going anywhere’
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) said Thursday House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is “not going anywhere” following reports that he was considering retirement.
Walker tweeted that he reached out to Ryan and asked him about the reports.
“Just checked in with my friend @PRyan. He’s not going anywhere,” tweeted Walker, a longtime friend of Ryan’s.

Politico reported Thursday that people close to Ryan said the speaker’s current term would be his last, citing a desire to spend more time with his family. Ryan denied the report publicly on Thursday.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Thursday that Ryan personally “assured the president that those were not accurate reports and that they look forward to working together for a long time.”
Sanders said that Trump would have been “very unhappy” if the reports were true.
