“No matter your race, no matter your skin color, no matter where you’re from, everybody should have an equal opportunity, equal rights, be able to voice their opinion, be able to stand for something. Especially right now being in Washington, D.C., I wanted to try to make another statement here,” James said after the game when asked about the shoes.

James echoed that sentiment during a locker room interview, telling reporters, “I think we all have to understand that having equal rights and being able to stand for something, speak for something, keep the conversation going.”
“We’re not going to let one person dictate to us as Americans how beautiful and powerful we are as a people,” he added.
James has been outspoken in recent months about the state of the country. In September, he called President Trump a “bum” after Trump rescinded Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry’s invitation to visit the White House.
