RNC chair on Trump: One year down, ‘many more to go’
Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel on Friday praised President Trump’s first year in office, saying there are “many more to go.”
McDaniel wrote in a Fox News op-ed that Trump “has had a historically successful first year” in the White House, capped off by the passage of the GOP tax overhaul this week.
The RNC chair also slammed Democrats, accusing them of pushing “fraudulent narratives” about Trump’s actions and going after their “reckless resistance.”
“Despite their obstruction, the president continues to lead – so here’s to one year down, and many more to go,” she wrote.

The GOP head credited Trump for “rallying Congress and the American people around” the tax bill that he signed on Friday, saying it “puts more money into our pockets.”
“Since President Trump was elected, Democrats have done nothing but reject, obstruct and resist – kicking and screaming every step of the way. Yet that has not deterred our president,” McDaniel wrote.
Democrats, who voted in consensus against each iteration of the tax bill, also stood united against the Republicans’ first major legislative undertaking this year: the repeal of ObamaCare.
Several GOP senators defected in votes over the summer and fall, joining Democrats to ensure the failure of the repeal effort.
Despite the health-care collapse, the RNC chair touted other accomplishments under Trump, such as the confirmation of conservative federal court judges including Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and the administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
