Ana Navarro: I’d rather have Trump on the golf course than in the Oval Office

CNN commentator Ana Navarro said Wednesday that she’d rather President Trump be out golfing than in the Oval Office implementing his agenda.

Navarro, a Republican strategist, said Trump’s frequent golf trips to his private properties are fine with her because she would “rather he be on the golf course than in the Oval Office banning transgenders, Muslims, ending [the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program] and giving himself a tax cut,” she told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota

A game of golf, she noted, could take up to seven hours “depending on how slow you are,” which could make “seven hours of the day that he’s not working.”

An outspoken Trump critic, Navarro slammed Trump for criticizing former President Obama for the number of days he spent golfing and for promising during his 2016 campaign that he would not have time for the sport.

“This reeks of hypocrisy. Really he looks like the hypocrite in chief, and it’s not even just about golf — it’s about everything,” Navarro said. “It’s not only that he’s playing golf, it’s that he’s playing golf at his own private golf course, staying at his own private club.”

By a CNN count, Trump has spent 111 days on one of his company’s properties, 86 of which he has spent golfing as of Wednesday. Trump is currently spending the Christmas holiday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla.

“Put a bumper sticker on ‘the Beast’ that says ‘I’d rather be golfing’ and stay there for as long as you can,” Navarro said, referring to the nickname given to the president’s private limousine.
