Trump campaign aide: Pelosi will never be Speaker again
Former Trump campaign aide and New York City Councilman Joseph Borelli (R) said Sunday that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) won’t be Speaker of the House again, even if Democrats regain control of the lower chamber in 2018.
“I don’t think Nancy Pelosi will ever be Speaker of the House again, whether they win or whether they don’t. We saw the writing on the wall with some of her members over the last year saying that she may not be the best thing for her party’s branding, and I think we may see that play out in 2018, regardless,” Borelli said on Fox News.
{mosads}Borelli ran Trump’s campaign efforts in New York leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
Pelosi was challenged as the Democratic leader in the House last year following the election of President Trump. She defeated Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), earning 68 percent of the votes from her caucus.
Ryan and his supporters had argued that the party needed a change in leadership after it was soundly defeated in the 2016 election cycle.
Democrats in 2017 secured key victories in the gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, and the special Senate election in Alabama.
