Jemele Hill is stepping down from her role as co-anchor of ESPN’s SportsCenter program, a little over three months after the network suspended her for calling President Trump a “white supremacist” and a “bigot” in a series of tweets.
Hill will move to another program on the network, in keeping with her multiyear contract, Deadline Hollywood reported Friday.
{mosads}ESPN suspended Hill twice last year, first in September for her tweets criticizing the president, and a second time in October for advocating a boycott of companies affiliated with the Dallas Cowboys. The reason for both suspensions was Hill’s violation of the network’s social media guidelines.
The White House at the time called Hill’s remarks on Trump a “fireable offense,” while the president took a shot at her show’s ratings.
Hill will move from SportsCenter, where she has been the co-anchor for just under a year, to ESPN’s “The Undefeated” platform next month.
People familiar with the move told Deadline that Hill had asked the network for the switch and that she is happy with the decision.
