Teenager shot in Maryland HS shooting to be taken off life support
A teenage girl who was shot in the hallway of her Maryland high school earlier in the week will be taken off life support Thursday night, NBC Washington reported.
Jaelynn Willey, 16, was one of two students shot on Tuesday morning at Great Mills High School. Police said the alleged gunman, Austin Rollins, shot her in the head. Rollins and Wiley had a previous relationship, police said.
Wiley had been on life support at University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center, the NBC affiliate reported.
{mosads}”She will not make it,” Melissa Willey, Jaelynn’s mother, said. “She’s brain-dead and has nothing, no life left in her.”
Rollins was killed after exchanging gunfire with the school resource officer. The other injured student is in good condition, NBC Washington reported.
The shooting at the Maryland high school came more than a month after a gunman opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, killing 17 people.
Stoneman Douglas students have been at the forefront of the discussion about gun violence following last month’s shooting.
The students organized the March For Our Lives rally, which will take place on Saturday in Washington, D.C., and cities across the country.
