Gun control advocates at New York’s “March for Our Lives” rally held a moment of silence Saturday for the 17 people killed in the Florida high school shooting last month.
Sam Hendler, a survivor of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, read aloud the names of the students and staff who were killed, BuzzFeed News reported.

The New York march is just one of more than 800 marches planned globally for Saturday.
Student activists from the Florida high school organized the “March for Our Lives” to call on President Trump and Congress to act on gun control and school safety.
An estimated 500,000 people are expected to attend the march in Washington, D.C.
