First boys rescued from Thai cave: reports

The first boys have been successfully rescued from a cave in Thailand where they have been trapped for nearly two weeks with their soccer team.

The rescue happened about eight hours after divers began the process of extracting the boys from the cave as the threat of floods and heavy rains continued, according to multiple reports. 

Four boys have left the cave, CNN reported, adding that the next divers will not be able to go in for at least 10 hours. 

{mosads}They will receive medical treatment at a hospital about 35 miles away from the cave, according to officials.

The soccer team of 12 boys and their coach went missing late last month while on an excursion. They were found in the Tham Luang cave complex about 10 days into the search.

Elite military and divers from several countries have convened at the cave for the rescue process, which could take days, as each boy will need to be brought out individually by a team of two divers. One ex-Thai Navy SEAL died while delivering oxygen tanks to prepare for the rescue.
