Pete and Chasten Buttigieg announce they’re going to be parents
Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg announced on Twitter on Tuesday that he and his husband, Chasten Buttigieg, are going to become parents.
“The process isn’t done yet and we’re thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us,” he wrote. “We can’t wait to share more soon.”
For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family. We’re overjoyed to share that we’ve become parents! The process isn’t done yet and we’re thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us. We can’t wait to share more soon.

The couple, who married in 2018, has previously said that they want to grow their family. Pete Buttigieg revealed their plan to have a child when asked about his views on paid parental leave during a 2019 press conference.
“We’re hoping to have a little one soon, so I have a personal stake in this one, too,” Pete Buttigieg said, according to ABC News. “We should have paid parental leave and find a way to have paid leave for anyone who needs caring.”
The pair has not shared any more information on the announcement, but said they would reveal more details soon.
