The presidential transition is complicating talks over the auto bailout, according to the Post. Lawmakers are trying to devise a government oversight board for the car industry as the White House changes hands, the Post notes. President-elect Obama made a bold choice by selecting retired Gen. Eric Shinseki as Veterans Affairs secretary, writes Paul Rieckhoff. Shinseki is the first Asian-American to become a U.S. general and is someone who has always put his country before his politics, writes Rieckhoff.
