The declaration by Lawrence Eagleburger, the former Secretary of State supporting John McCain, that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) is “not ready” to become president leads the Post. Eagleburger, during a National Public Radio interview, added that Palin could become “adequate” if she’s given time in the vice president’s office. In the blog, Arianna Huffington supports a California ballot proposition that seeks to reduce prison overcrowding over the objections of the prison guards union, which is trying to protect its overtime pay.
