John McCain failed to gain the momentum he needed at Tuesday’s debate, writes Matt Lewis, who wanted McCain to bring up Barack Obama’s ties to Weather Underground radical Bill Ayers. The debate was boring because there were no real follow-ups by moderator Tom Brokaw and because the questions only resulted in the candidates reciting their stump speeches, writes Amanda Carpenter.
