Barack Obama would win more than 270 electoral votes as the race stands today, according to most analysts’ projections, notes Todd Beeton. Even in the conservative NBC electoral map, Obama has the advantage because all the states considered toss-ups are red states, Beeton writes. Though vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and her fellow Republicans chant “drill, baby, drill,” even oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens doesn’t believe drilling is a solution, writes Jonathan Singer. That may be why one reason most voters prefer Obama on the issue to McCain, Singer adds.
