The Senate has passed the Wall Street bailout bill by a near three-to-one margin, notes the top of the Post. In presidential politics, John McCain’s has taken on the job of defending his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska), by getting testy with the Des Moines Register’s editorial board, by telling NPR that she has given him foreign policy advice, and by telling Katie Couric that she’s been the target of “gotcha journalism.” But Palin, who has shown herself to be out of her depth while running for vice president, should step aside for the good of the country, writes Bob Cesca. The last leader who didn’t want to do work hard in the White House, George W. Bush, hasn’t worked out so well, Cesca writes.
