Drudge Report
The bailout deal has suffered a “breakdown,” according to the front page of the Drudge Report. Democrats are blaming House Republicans for “revolting” against President Bush, the Associated Press reports. In related links, Drudge notes that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson got down on one knee to plead with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) not to break off talks, that Barack Obama’s campaign called John McCain’s suspension of his campaign a “stunt,” and that the White House meeting over the bailout deal was “contentious.”
