TalkingPointsMemo
“Lipstick on a pig,” the phrase Republicans are seemingly outraged about, best describes John McCain’s campaign, since he portrays himself as a reformer even though his aides are lobbyists and since his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), talks about fighting earmarks while requesting them, writes Josh Marshall. To hammer the point home, the website will offer merchandise featuring a pig branded with the McCain-Palin logo and wearing lipstick. The press is no longer buying the Republican outrage over Barack Obama’s “lipstick comment” nor the idea that McCain will be able to look back at his campaign with pride, notes Marshall.
