Barack Obama’s convention speech was effective in making him sound thoughtful, yet Obama’s rhetoric about bipartisanship and “new politics” were dishonest, writes Ramesh Ponnuru, who reminds readers about Obama’s record. But Illinois senator gave the best speech at his convention, hands down, writes Jay Nordlinger. Though Democrats may never have another candidate like Obama or another year where things are as favorable to them as they are in 2008, they’re still in a close race against John McCain, Nordlinger notes.
