Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) strategy in her convention speech seemed to be to try to do just enough to support Barack Obama while saying little about his excellence, so that she’ll have a chance to come back in 2012 and win the presidency against John McCain, writes Victor Davis Hanson. Even if Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) comes back to win in his primary, where the results are too close to call, he’ll have trouble cracking 50 percent and will struggle in the general election, writes John Miller.
