Barack Obama should have Democratic Sens. John Kerry (Mass.), Jack Reed (R.I.) and Jim Webb (Va.), all of them veterans, question whether John McCain is being truthful when he tells his “cross in the dirt” story, according to a Republican TPM reader who suggests this could be “Swift-Boat payback.” But the cross story never happened and was never written by author Alexander Solzhenitsyn, whom McCain is accused of taking it from, reports Greg Sargent.
