The difference between the United States and Russia, which Barack Obama initially seemed hesitant to point out as the Georgian crisis began, is that free people such as Georgians and Poles seek a U.S. presence and fear a Russian one, writes Carol Platt Liebau, noting that Poland just signed a missile defense deal with the United States. Pundits knocking Republicans for attacks on Obama for tire inflation fail to see that Republicans don’t want government to tell them what to do and instead want government to get out of the way and allow domestic oil drilling, writes Michael Medved.
