The suggestion that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) could cost John McCain as much as 7 percent of the evangelical vote if Romney joins the ticket is bogus, writes Matt Lewis, who suggests that the attacks on Romney are being “recycled” and aren’t “spontaneous.” Though the Office of Management and Budget projects a $490 billion federal deficit, that number may top $500 billion with the current Congress passing more spending bills and perhaps $1 trillion once a Democrat gets into the White House and pushes for “socialized medicine,” writes John Campbell.
