While Blackwater is reportedly getting out of the security contracting business because of the negative press and government scrutiny it has received, Eric Kleefeld suggests the company is a “Republican mercenary outfit” that is looking ahead to a Democratic administration. An Iraqi government spokesman said that the Iraqi’s preferred timetable for U.S. troop withdrawal calls for removing most of them by the end of 2010 and that puts the Iraqi government’s view close to Barack Obama’s, writes Josh Marshall.
