The reason Barack Obama is polling well in South Dakota, Indiana and other states that Democrats haven’t traditionally won is that he has built a better field organization in those places than John McCain, writes Jonathan Singer. McCain may have received a warm reception for his speech and his response to questions at the National Council of La Raza meeting Monday, but he tried to have it both ways when responding to a query about the DREAM Act, failed legislation that would have offered a path to citizenship to illegal immigrants who attend college or join the military, writes Todd Beeton. McCain said on Monday that he would support the measure as president even though he once said he would vote to filibuster it, Beeton notes.
