Many wealthy Americans are backing Barack Obama because the Democrat reassures their self-image and alleviates guilt of living an elite life at the modest cost of making a campaign donation and posting a yard sign, Victor Davis Hanson suggests. Obama isn’t risking much in moving to the center, since most of his followers will follow him and since the Democrats who have won the White House in the past have been centrists, according to Rich Lowry.
