Conservative opponents of judicial activism should pounce on the current opportunity to join with liberals disillusioned with recent court rulings on guns and the death penalty to find a way to weaken the judiciary, perhaps by instituting federal judge term limits, suggests Mark Krikorian. Barack Obama and John McCain’s speeches before Latino elected officials turned out to be a win for Obama, since the Republican essentially took Obama’s bait, pledged to support legalizing illegal immigrants and is thus risking his support among conservatives, Krikorian writes.
