John McCain is showing one his “appealing mavericky qualities” by reportedly meeting with a group of gay Republicans, writes Allahpundit. While the meeting with Log Cabin Republicans is commendable, it could cost him social conservative voters, the blogger adds. Barack Obama seems to be thinking about building a bigger majority by opposing the reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine, which requires broadcasters to give time to proponents of both sides of a political debate, Allahpundit writes. The big backers of the doctrine are liberal online activists, whom Obama has already bucked on free trade and foreign surveillance, Allahpundit adds.
