A new Georgetown University poll shows that Catholics, a swing demographic, are becoming more Democratic, notes Jonathan Singer. Though President Bush won the group in 2004, 60 percent of Catholics now identify themselves as Democrats while just 34 percent see themselves as Republicans, according to the survey. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) is correct to suggest that the real problem with giving immunity to telecom companies for their role in White House domestic wiretapping is that it will prevent the public from finding out exactly what the Bush administration did, writes Josh Orton. Feingold thinks that that Bush’s actions in the program amount to an impeachable offense.
