Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.) is trying hard to sound like a Democrat in his latest re-election campaign ad, but mcjoan reminds readers that Smith only turned against the Iraq war once he realized he had to run for another term. Montana Republicans clearly aren’t pleased with their Senate candidate, Bob Kelleher, a former Democrat and Green party member, as the Republicans refused to let him speak at their state convention, notes brownsox. But Kelleher himself isn’t doing much to improve his credibility by campaigning to replace the federal government with a British-style parliamentary system, the blogger writes.
