Only 11 senators – all Republican – voted Thursday to support an investigation into how Sens. Obama, in the ad, said he extended healthcare to wounded troops, yet he missed the vote on the relevant bill. He said that he passed laws moving people from welfare to work, yet he opposed President Bill Clinton’s welfare reform measures. And Obama said that he cut taxes for working families and created a tax credit for them as an Illinois state legislator, but he wasn’t the lead sponsor of that bill, Lewis writes.
