The Plank
Contrary to some pundits’ predictions, Barack Obama is unlikely to win the popular vote in November and lose the Electoral College because the results in states end up following the national vote totals, even though current state polls do not, Josh Patashnik writes. Obama should consider visiting Alaska, where one poll shows him trailing by just four percentage points, suggests Nate Silver. A visit to a state that’s geographically out of the way will lead to lots of earned media and will force John McCain, whose party has traditionally won the state, to travel there, too, Silver writes.
