John McCain’s list of independents and Democrats who have endorsed him is “a little bit of a sham,” since most have long supported Republicans over Democrats, according to Eric Kleefeld and Greg Sargent. In fact, one of those on the list, former West Virginia gubernatorial candidate Phillip Frye, seems to have run in the Democrat primary because his opponent was caught having an affair with his wife, the bloggers note. McCain himself has now embraced President Bush’s Social Security privatization policies, notes Josh Marshall in a video. Like Bush, McCain supports taking money away from Social Security to allow private investment accounts while trying to “bamboozle” voters into thinking that he supports something else, according to Marshall.
