Despite the prolonged Democratic nomination fight, Republicans are the ones who are more divided than Democrats, according to Todd Beeton who looks at a new poll Hotline poll. More than two-thirds of Democrats polled were satisfied with Barack Obama as their nominee, while just 52 percent of Republicans felt that way about John McCain, writes Beeton. Perhaps Senate Republicans themselves know that things are bad; Sen. John Ensign (Nev.), chairman of the Senate Republicans’ campaign effort, suggested holding on to just 45 seats is a target, writes Beeton. While Ensign calls it the “absolute worst goal,” it’s still better than his previous bottom-line goal of keeping 41 seats, Beeton notes.
