The Next Right
Even if Barack Obama ends up winning the presidency, joining him as a running mate is a dead end for Hillary Clinton, writes Patrick Ruffini. If Obama wins with Clinton on the ticket, she wouldn’t be able to run for the White House again until she was 69, Ruffini notes. If Obama loses with Clinton on the ticket, she’ll have lost twice in 2008, a formula that didn’t work for John Edwards when he tried running again for president, according to Ruffini. To beat Obama, John McCain should seek to support of female, lower-income Clinton supporters who are disappointed with Obama as the Democratic nominee, writes Soren Dayton. McCain could do that by holding more campaign events with high-profile women surrogates such as Carly Fiorina, Dayton adds.
