The Corner
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are in a “virtual tie” for the popular vote, Byron York writes. When all contests are taken into account, Obama leads only when he’s given Michigan’s uncommitted votes, some of which probably belong to the other Democratic candidates who had also pulled their names from the ballot, York writes. While former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore (R) was able to hold off a challenge for the GOP nomination for Senate, he’s taking for granted the support of his party, which isn’t a strategy for beating former Gov. Mark Warner (D), writes Jack Fowler. Gilmore, who beat the runner-up by just 66 votes out of more than 10,000, acknowledged that he didn’t put all the resources he could into the convention, saying that he’s focusing on Warner, Fowler notes.
